Oh hi…
Welcome to my online portfolio. Here you will find all of my work from concept designs to finished and published projects. But first let’s get rolling on the introduction of me and my reason for aspiring to create people and places for a living.
My name is Jay Kane and I’m a Graphic Designer by day and a freelance illustrator and aspiring Character Designer and Motion artist by any other time of day. I am influenced by many different forms and styles of art ranging from the classic comic book style art of Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby and Mike Mignola to the brilliance of street art by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Banksy, Shepard Fairey, and illustrators like Dave McKean and Jeffery Alan Love. Finding these artists has led me to finding concept design for film and games, which was an exciting find from artists like Shaddy Safadi, John J. Park , and Gilles Beloeil.
As a child I was always fascinated by stop motion animation, thanks to the likes of Morph. This has continued with me into my adult life and I’m inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Terminator, Kubo and the Two Strings, Chicken Run, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Mary & Max, and Wallace and Gromit. This has opened up the interest of other aspects of animation and illustration. This has led me to starting a motion graphics course on Adobe After Effects and Blender.
As for the future I am very interested in learning more skills within the character design, motion design, and animation side of the arts. Working on many projects from creating characters or worlds to learning 3D elements and even the likes of the gaming industry and advanced video editing.
